A quiet Thursday............

The weather has been really nice this week.....................

Too nice for birds: all the migrants are passing right through, probably high in the sky.

I hung out at Kamiiso hoping for something rare to turn up. Nothing came except for a distant Osprey. The only signs of visible migration were in the water: lots of salmon gathering at the rivermouth before swimming upstream.

The light was so good I could get 1/8000 sec shutter speeds at ISO 400. Here are some Black-tailed Gull BIFs...........

This is a Slaty-backed Gull.

All very scruffy of course at this season. And that is how I spent the afternoon of my 50th birthday............

  1. Happy Birthday Stuart! Puzzled why not to reduce the 1/8000 speed setting to be able to go for a lower ISO?! Very sharp images though...Gannet (Juv) over Ally Pally today but missed as in Redhill! Tony
