A rainy Sunday

It was raining all day today.................

I went to Goryokaku Park hoping to see some migrants. In the past mid May often saw large numbers of the common summer migrants passing through the town parks but in recent years it seems to have gone a bit quiet............

The only migrants around were 3 Hawfinch near my flat, a small flock of Common Teal, a lone Little Grebe on the moat and a few Swallows in the sky. And this Eye-browed Thrush............

The only other birds in the park were the common breeders such as Red-cheeked Starling and Great-spotted Woodpecker:

It was dark and rainy all day. Yesterday was sunny and I managed a quick walk in the morning but gain no migrants around at all. The Oriental Reed Warblers had arrived at least but otherwise just common stuff.

  1. I think it is a world wide trend that we are all experiencing lower numbers of migrants.
