A Golden Week Visitor

Golden Week, the spring holiday in late April/early May in Japan, often brings rarities or semi-rarities...........

And today it brought a Saunders Gull.

This is the 3rd time I've seen this species in Hokkaido and the first time in Hakodate.

It's really a bird of southern Japan, where it is a regular winter visitor...........

Hopefully the first of a flurry of interesting birds this Golden Week..............
