A sunny springlike Monday

Monday was a sunny spring day.............

It was however cold and windy (from the NW) and not so great for bird photos.

The Black-necked Grebes were about in the west of town..............

I tried (unsuccessfully as you can see) to get some nice group shots................

This Wigeon was in the same port..............

And this Slavonian Grebe was in another port as we headed west.

The first Osprey of the year was around as was a very early Barn Swallow. Other stuff on Monday included Whooper Swan, a lone White-fronted Goose, big flocks of Brent Goose, Eurasian Sparrowhawk, Great Egret, 1 White-tailed Eagle and the usual common ducks and gulls.

  1. We were out for a walk this morning and commented to each other that the first Osprey should be showing up any time now. There is lots of open water and the days are slowly getting warmer.
