Some February Kittiwakes

The ports to the east of town still held quite a few Black-legged Kittiwakes on Sunday.................

They've have been very common this winter but I'd assumed they'd all left. I was wrong.

Rather than just resting or preening they were actually feeding...........

I wonder why there have so many on the coast this winter?

I got some BIFs in the snow............

  1. Great looking gull. Should be getting into breeding plumage soon.

    1. Sadly their breeding colonies must be well to the north of Japan..........

  2. Really beautiful captures, Stu. The ice particles in the air really add some dimension.
