Some hungry Eagles

Just scraps for the eagles now.....................

I only saw a few actually eating: one Stellers dived in the river and grabbed a full salmon (too far off for a photo)..............only the carcasses in deep or awkward places remain now. The next big freeze will drop the river levels exposing the last bits of food.

Lots of eagles flying by or sitting in trees today.............

It was mild meaning the roads were clear.

A bit dark though..............

All the above are adult or subadult Stellers Sea Eagles..............

Here's a young White-tailed Eagle carrying a precious fish head...........

The usual stuff was on the river including Whooper Swan, Smew, Brown Dipper, Great Egret and Japanese Wagtail. There was also a briefly seen Goshawk..............

  1. Seems like a tough winter for these eagles to make a living.

  2. Seems like I should ask. " Do you ever tire of seeing and photographing these eagles?" Don't mind me Stu. I'm just jealous.

    1. Hi Phil, no I don't tire of them but before the end of the eagle season I know I've taken enough pics and I should start looking at other stuff...........

  3. Just a brilliant species to get annually, and well photographed, of course.
