More of the same

The Rhinoceros Auklets were still around a couple of days ago......................

Annoyingly I've done something to my back and am not very mobile at the moment so couldn't walk around much. I could go out briefly in the car though.  Luckily these were still much in evidence in the bay..........

It's impossible to predict where they'll pop up. Grebes and diving ducks invariably emerge after a short time from almost the same spot they dive but these auklets can appear from nowhere.

Sometimes you don't have time to react before they dive again and then disappear. Here's a typical view.

They do dive a lot.............

And occasionally come close.............

The light can be a bit dodgy.................

Some Ospreys were fishing offshore and the fields near the pier had lots of Stonechat and Chestnut-eared Buntings...............

Hope my back isn't too badly damaged. It may be a small hernia or similar. Middle aged men with a history of back niggles shouldn't carry heavy camera gear for too far or too long............

  1. Hope your back recovers quickly. A bad back affects the rest of your body so everything seems more difficult. I doubt whether you are going to stop toting around your heavy equipment though!

    1. Thanks David. I might get the tripod to take some of the strain: I don't use it enough anyway,
