The interim

It's the interim period, not winter anymore but not really spring yet either...................

A bit of a quiet week in town, here's a Dusky Thrush (top) and Great Egret from a couple of days ago, plus some Mandarin Duck at Onuma today...........

Not much else in town. Siskin, Goosander, Pochard, Great-spotted Woodpecker and a few Hawfinch..........

At Onuma this afternoon there were quite a few Mandarin Ducks which must have arrived in the last few days................

As you can see there is a bit of an issue with the male:female ratio..............

Great Egrets were here too...............

With their grey cousins.............

Just a couple of Smew today and no eagles...............

  1. I think it must be a significant delight to see those Mandarin Ducks. The only place I have seen them (and quite frequently and in good numbers) is the UK. It must be far more satisfying for you to see them where they are supposed to be.

    1. I just wish they weren't so shy. Around here they are very difficult to get close to.
