Eagle fatigue

A break in all my recent eagle related posts....................

I took a walk near my apartment today and there was a small group of half a dozen or so Japanese Waxwings................

I tried to relocate the Baikal Teal at Onuma ealier in the week but whilst doing so was surprised to find a female Ring-necked Duck (above, second photo from the top), a rarity in Japan. Was it the same individual as last year? Probably is............

The Baikal Teal were still there on both the 2nd/3rd............crappy record shots only of all the ducks.

Smew, Goosander, Goldeneye,Common Teal and Pintail were mixed in with the Mallards but it was difficult to find stuff looking into the light. This area has now been cordoned off due to bird flu, one of the Whooper Swan flock was found dead and tested positive for avian influenza..............

The only small birds of interest in Onuma were a small group of Bullfinch.

These Whoopers were taken from the same bridge as all the recent eagle photos............

Also near my apartment was this Great Egret................

Not often I get to use ISO 100.

When I upload photos to this blog they get cpmpressed, some of the blue skies on these shots may look pixelated..........

  1. You do get quite a variety of species. That's very unfortunate about the bird flu.

  2. For those of us who give our eye teeth to see those eagles, eagle fatigue is a concept hard to grasp!
