Still there.....................

The flock of Japanese Waxwing was in the same place as yesterday and in much better light...............

The Waxwings and Dusky Thrushes had polished off most of the berries in the park............

They were very skittish but they didn't seem scared of people but rather by traffic noise. The park is on a country road in a rural area but for some reason there were a lot of trucks using it and every time one went by it spooked the Waxwings.

Only one species in the flock, no Bohemian Waxwings at all.

I hope this is just the start of several invasions by both species this winter, I didn't see any last winter I think.

Crested Kingfisher near Yakumo, 8 species of gull at the rivermouth too. Near Oshamanbe there was a flock of Dunlin and a lone Grey Plover on the beach as well as a female Smew. Both species of eagle were present at Yakumo but none near enough for a decent photo................

  2. Great series of pictures, Stuart. Waxwings are fabulous birds and to have this photographic record with all the clarity and detail that is so apparent in the pictures must be satisfying indeed.
