Not what I was expecting

Another typhoon hit Hokkaido meaning grey skies and rain.................and we had several (small) earthquakes last night too.

I was on the beaches looking for waders. We went to several likely spots but couldn't find any anywhere.................

I was surprised to see this White Fronted Goose near Kamiiso. Very early for this species I think............

There was also 1 Whooper Swan (again, surprising for this time of year). Also at Kamiiso were 20 or so Black Crowned Night Heron and 1 Striated Heron. Elsewhere not much around, lots of Osprey and also a coupls of Great Crested Grebe near Kikonai. This is another bird that we only really see in winter, nice to see them in summer plumage for a change.
