Some birds from around town.............

A quiet couple of days in town..................

There were several Black Crowned Night Herons on the river near my apartment.............

It was a bit dark again..............all today's Heron pics are with my old 7D/100-400 combo.

There was also 1 Great Egret..................

Again, note the lack of snow.

Sveral species of common duck were also around including Goosander, Pochard, Goldeneye and Wigeon.

At Kamiiso the Black Necked Grebes were still around.

The fish in its bill is a chika, a small fish which my father-in law often catches and my mother-in law cooks as tempura.

Although common I enjoy the grebes and never get tired of them............

Winter where are you?

  2. Grebes are always a treat to see. Warm and sunny here in Belize, as one would expect. Just how I like my winter!

  3. It's interesting that so many northern species of grebe have a red eye whereas none of our Australian ones do! We're forecast to have 33C today and tomorrow so enjoy your cooler Christmas dinner!

  4. Pretty good birds for around the town Stu. I think there a few Starlings and feral Pigeons knocking about Preston. If it rains anymore we'll be having divers in the streets though.
