A quiet birthday weekend...............

The end of the wader season saw us up at Yakumo and Oshamanbe yesterday, my 47th birthday in fact.............

A bit quiet birdwise, this Grey Plover was the only wader at Yakumo, the second pic was another individual at Oshamanbe.

The only other wader species was a lone Sanderling at Oshamanbe. There were a few Teal and Pintail around, a young Goshawk, 2 Osprey, Japanese Green Pigeon, Sand Martin and several Great Egret..............

It was a beautiful autumnal weekend................and the first winter visitors were around. A Glaucous Winged Gull at Oshamanbe and a Vega Gull at Yakumo..................

Nearer home, not much around. A Peregrine was pursuing some Pintail at Yakumo, a lone Greenshank and a few Common Sandpiper were the only waders around. In the perfect afternoon light I was hoping for an interesting rarity to turn up but the most interesting thing I found was a Praying Mantis (the first one I'd ever seen): the 500 f4 is not a good macro lens.

Here are a couple of common species at Kamiso; Great Egret and Goosander.

A quiet end to a quiet week, at least I'm over my cold as I enter my 48th year on Planet Earth.

    1. Just wish I had something better to show for those 47 years than a beergut and a sacrasctic expression.
