Siberian Meadow Bunting

A male Siberian Meadow Bunting just outside Hakodate this morning.............

Sunday was a write off as it rained all day but today was dark and overcast but at least dry.

We started off at the park where I'd seen the Crossbills drinking and bathing last week............

The Crossbills stayed up in the trees as did the Hawfinches and Bramblings. This Varied Tit did come down for a quick bath though...........

ISO 1600 is pushing it a bit on a crop camera.................

This Siberian Meadow Bunting was at the side of the road.

This is a common bird in Japan, especially further south. This is my first decent shot of one however. The other very common Bunting in Japan, the Black Faced, is another species I've never really succeeded with either............

Lots of Red Breasted Merganser displaying on the coast, flocks of Brent Geese gathering........it is spring for sure.

Liverpool's season took a bit of a downturn, I switched off in disgust and frustration at half time for the second game in sucession and watched 2 episodes of 'Utopia' instead.

  2. Ace Meadow Bunting, and Varied Tit is always a crowd-pleaser, at least with the "crowd" around here.

  3. My word that Varied Tit is a handsome bird. It's not hard to see why it's a crowd pleaser.
