More tired arms........................

I spent more time at Yakumo on Monday.................

My arms got tired handholding the big lens, 2 solid days of it.................

Not many eagles at all upstream now.

I've been spoilt a bit by the eagles this month. Today was not a vintage day but still pretty good. Most of them are now congregrating near the river mouth and doing their thing there.

The salmon glut is over and the eagles need to work much harder to find food. I guess autumn 2014 wasn't such a great salmon run, hope they can find some other food................

The light wasn't great for most BIF opportunities.............

The AF of the 7D MK2 seems much better than the MK1 with a teleconverter attached...............even against busy backgrounds in dodgy light.

The roads were dry. it was very mild again: it hasn't snowed for a while now. It may turn nasty later this week so, if the roads are icy, I may miss my eagle fix next weekend. I wonder how many eagles will be left next time I get to Yakumo?

  1. What a great series. I do like the ones of the eagles in the water!

  2. A feast of eagles. I've found the 7D2 to be good at picking birds out against background clutter, too. Image quality seems to suffer at higher ISOs, though.

  3. Some great views, Stu. Nice exposures with backgouns too. I've heard there's Steller's around and will be looking for it on Saturday. If I'm lucky I will get to look up its behind while it's sitting ontop of an electric powerline tower. Wish me luck!

  4. You know how much money people spend on trips to visit Japan in the winter to see these eagles? And you have them right at your door, so to speak.

  5. I know, I know. We only have to spend money on 1/3 of a tank of petrol to see them...................................
