Nuthatch feuds

Some pics of the tame Nuthatches in Onuma from earlier in the week............

There were 3 or 4 of them. The regular pair, who come to the hand, have some usurpers (who don't). The new one(s) seem to be dominant, they were fighting all the time (too quick for me to photograph).

Looks like we have some kind of Nuthatch clan feud going down this winter.............

Unlike Varied Tits Eastern Great Tits never come to the hand.............

  1. You are lucky to have the Nuthatches so "easily" seen - they're so good to watch.

  2. You are fortunate to have any Nuthatches at all as we have none in Northern Ireland so it was lovely to see these excellent shots.

    1. Hi Margaret, I didn't know that. Since I left England they seem to have become much more numerous and there were several pairs near my parents house last time I went back for a visit. When I was a kid I never saw them in the NW.
