Another waderless weekend

A very slow weekend again.....................

The wader season hasn't been good to me in 2014: I just don't seem to be seeing any. Apart from a small skittish flock of Red Necked Stint at Oshamanbe yesterday I didn't see a single wader over the last couple of days despite driving around all the likely spots.

There were Black Necked Grebes at Kamiiso (today, above) and Yakumo. This rather poor photo of a backlit Kingfisher was at Yakumo,

Lots of Asian Brown Flycatcher near my apartment a few days ago, the passerines have started their migration. Hope it is better than the waders.............

Winter birds are starting to reappear. There was a Pintail at Kamiiso today and this very tatty Glaucous Winged Gull was near Shikabe.

Not much else of note. Japanese Green Pigeon, Great Egret, Osprey........................

I was surprised but pleased England beat Switzerland. I wasn't expecting much so I didn't bother watching it, I later found out it had been live on Japanese TV. Wish I hadn't bothered watching Liverpool vs Villa.......................

  1. Nice BN Grebe. Late summer / early autumn has been pretty flat until now. 2 Pec. Sands and Barred + YB Warblers around plus a few LT Skuas chasing the terns. Not for me though - can't get anywhere until next Monday.
Super Mario will come good for you soon (or get sent off and leave in a strop).

    3. Well regardless of what you see/find you may have to rip up your British list after the referendum.....................Cameron says if the yes vote wins we will no longer let you count birds seen south of the border.

  2. I hope nothing bad has been happing to the waders. I hope you have just been out of luck. The 7D mark ii looks nice. I've been waiting for the Nikon equivalent for years. Maybe I should start out all over again with Canon.

    1. Hi Russell, for bird photography (and sports/action) it looks great. I'll be ordering one as soon as I can...............

Other blogs are showing plenty of waders, I'm just unlucky I guess.
