North Hokkaido Trip 2014 #3

The weather improved after the first misty couple of days.............

The grassland we spent a lot of time at had a Wryneck nest......................I noticed an adult first of all............

And then the chick(s)......................

Then the adult brought lunch.......................

My best Wryneck pics ever for sure..............

Back at the campsite I found a tame Siberian Rubythroat at the cape. It was in rather harsh early afternoon light though...................

  1. Harsh light for the Rubythroat, but still splendid. We only see Wrynecks in winter here, but it's another charismatic bird.

  2. Hi John, yes it was very bright that afternoon (and I have the sunburn to show for it). The Wryneck is usually such a shy species so I was very happy with these shots.

  4. Another great lot of images - two contrasting species.

    1. Yes they are, but both are ones I'd never really photographed with any success much before this trip.
