A weekend in town.................

For various reasons we didn't leave town at the weekend  (among other things we have to clean the apartment as we have visitors soon). Today I took a walk down the river to hang out with the crossbills again...................

For about half an hour they were feeding in a small secluded area of pines. Today I could get lots of shots of males...................

It was sunny at this time but as always they were moving in and out of the shade...............

3 Great Egret were still on the river nearby..............

The river was full of ice as you can see...........

Later it snowed briefly.................

Not much else around. Grey Heron, Goosander,Ttufted Duck, Hawfinch and a large flock of Dusky Thrush. No waxwings yet...............

Wow, Liverpool were awesome the other night. After the nightmare of the Ashes ccould 2014 be a good sporting year for my teams?

  2. Great Crossbill shots - never been anywhere near one for years. Love the Egrets in the Snow - they're not so white after all!

  3. I'm going looking for crossbills in Scotland soon. If I can take a single shot as good as that first one, I will consider the year a success. How I envy you!

    1. Hi Scyrene. The secret is simply to find them in a low pine tree......
