Some common winter stuff...........

A short visit to Onuma on Tuesday morning saw the usual common tits and nuthatches, a bit of a comedown after the eagles, owls and flacons of the previous week.

Actually the Ural Owl was still there but I have enough pics of it just sitting there. The owl had become well-known and judging by footprints in the snow some folk have been going too close to it. 2 noisy middle aged women were there trying to take photos of it with their cellphones, the owl ducked back into its hole. I guess it will seek alternative accomodation if that continues..............

Not much in town, here is a scruffy looking Grey Heron and one (of a flock of 8) Brent Goose in the harbour.

Whilst not as cold as some parts of North America we're having our own cold snap now. Minus 13 has been the lowest. Our fromt door has problems with condensation and has frozen shut, the front windows have frozen too. Our guest room (where I am typing this now) has a temperature of around 8 degrees celsius..............

Other stuff near my apartment this last few days has included Brown Dipper, Hawfinch and flocks of Dusky Thrush.....................

  4. Piękne sikorki, które mają inne upierzenie niż u nas. Czapla bardzo mi się podoba. Pozdrawiam.
Beautiful tits, which have different plumage than us. Heron I really like. Yours.

  5. As always you have some wonderful images. The Varied tit and Nuthatch shots are lovely. The Heron is all hunched up in the cold weather.I think I can see some frost on his beak!
    Hope it warms up soon.

  6. As I said already in several messages, I will sign for your common winter visitors any time ;-) I've seen the varied tit in South Korea but was not able to take a picture... Hope I will one day... Really love the two first shots. They are really great...
