Another year done

We got up very early this morning and headed up to Yakumo, I was hoping for a repeat of last week's eagle action........................but despite the good weather the eagles just weren't co-operating.

I got a few BIFs, inevitably. But truth be told I have a lot of photos pretty much identical to this one.

They just sat in the trees mostly.

The river is full of dead salmon and there are still quite a lot of live ones. I guess the eagles will be well fed this winter and can afford to be wary..................

I hope I can get some shots of them actually doing something next time..............

Also around were a few small birds including a flock of Long Tailed Tit....................

Some of them even starting flopping around in the snow..................

The weather was awful over Christmas and nasty weather is forecast for the remainder of the year so this will probably be my last post of 2012. So thanks for reading my blog, all 50 or so of my regular readers and I hope you all have a good 2013.......................

  1. You're right Stu. Just to keep us guessing, Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. It must be great to head out just knowing the eagles will be there, and you never know today might be the day for the ultimate picture. Are you sure that isn't a Long-tailed Snow Bunting? Happy New Year to you and family.

  2. Great to have those pics of Stellers's eagles. keep getting them even if you have similar. It's excellent news that they are well fed. It's a concern for them. Love the Tit in the snow, really beautiful.

  3. Love those snowy lotties and wish we had any sort of eagles to photograph in Lancs. They'd cause some fun on the Ribble!
All the very best for 2013 Stu

    Cheers

  4. Thanks for the comments

Davo-you'd need lots of dying or rotting salmon to attract eagles to the Ribble..........mind you the Ribble at Preston is probably dirty enough to kil any salmon that swim through
